Our Honorees
BACH TO ROCK
HONOREE
Bach To Rock of Port Washington opened on Jan 2, 2013, teaching a generation of local kids to love and play music. Owned by business partners Glenn Fleischman and Alan Goodstadt, and led by Site Director Elana Hayden, B2R has actively supported music arts in the community by providing a safe, fun place for students to learn how to play instruments, join bands, record & rehearse in our state-of-the-art recording studio and perform in public at events like HEARTS's annual PortFest celebration, Manhasset SCA Fair, Fall Festival Village Day at the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy and world class venues including The Landmark On Main Street in Port Washington, KJ Farrell’s in Bellmore, City Winery, and The Cutting Room in NYC. Thanks to our talented and dedicated team of pro-musician teachers and leaders, B2R provides all the benefits of learning music with the work ethic, comradery and performance of team sports, helping our students become confident learners, performers and friends.
The B2R team met Damon Gersh, Michele Posner and the HEARTS board when both were just starting and immediately realized that HEARTS was an organization we needed to support. So many folks in the community were clamoring for more music arts programs that becoming an early PortFest sponsor seemed like a worthy use of our resources. Over time B2R not only remained a sponsor and supporter of the amazing work done by HEARTS, but now also supports programs at the Port Washington Public Library, The Parent Resource Center, The Port Washington Children’s Center, Residents Forward, Long Island Together’s “Summer Together Program,” the Greater Port Washington Business Improvement District, The Port Washington Chamber of Commerce, The Port Washington PAL, The Sands Point Preserve Conservancy, and the John Philip Sousa Memorial Bandshell.
Approaching our 10th year serving the local community, Bach To Rock continues to provide music education and performance services to the community, supports our alumni who have gone on to top music programs and careers in music, and hopes to start meeting the children of our first students over the next ten years!
