DISTRICT-WIDE GRANTS
All Elementary Schools
Afternoon Artists
Mr. Moore3rd-5th grade students will enjoy an after-school student driven creative exploration. By working with ceramics, painting, printmaking and mixed media they will create
individual visual statements that grow out of their experiences, feelings and interests. Students will also learn how other great artists have created personal work.


Curtains Up: A Musical Theatre Experience

Allison Friedman & Stacey Medford
4th and 5th graders will take part in an after-school musical theater program. Students will put on a full musical production of “Peter Pan” containing singing, dancing, costumes, and scenery.

Dancing Classrooms
In partnership with the Creative Arts Department, The HSA/PTA & The Ed. Foundation
All 5th-grade students participate in a ten-week ballroom dance residency in which they learn essential life skills through the art of social dance.

Night of 1000 Strings at Tilles Center for Performing Arts

Kevin Scully, John Akios, Allison Burke, Carly Clancy, Diane Fish, Carol Garofalo, Anthony Pinelli, Jr.
Orchestra students in 5th-12th grade will experience the thrill of performing in a world-class concert hall.

South Salem
AileyDance Kids 
In partnership with the Salem Compact Committee and The Ed. Foundation
1st graders will participate in an eight-week, in-school, hands-on, dance residency workshop in West African style dance. This class teaches the unity between the body, mind and spirit that is fundamental to African culture. Students also learn regional songs along with dances of welcome and praise culminating in a performance.

Schreiber Theater Company

Funds will be used to offset the costs of Schreiber’s annual musical production.
 
The Memory Project
Nicole Thomas
The Art Honor Society will create portraits of teens and children around the world who have been orphaned, neglected, or disadvantaged to provide them with special memories that capture their childhood.

Weber
Pop Choir
Matthew Gawronski
Students will audition to participate in a choir where accomplished vocalists have an opportunity to perform fun, yet musically rigorous pop music at their full vocal potential.
 
Weber Woodwind & Brass Ensemble
Elizabeth Andrew
A woodwind and brass ensemble group will provide the opportunity for students to work in a small group setting to improve musicianship skills and to learn skills unique to the chamber music.
